Shao-Yuan Lo, a former student of Vishal Patel, associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been awarded the prestigious Yushan Young Fellowship from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education—the highest honor for newly appointed young professors in Taiwan. The fellowship is granted to early-career scholars who demonstrate exceptional research achievements and leadership potential in their fields.

Lo’s research focuses on trustworthy artificial intelligence, machine learning, and multimodal models, with applications ranging from computer vision and social intelligence. He continues to collaborate with researchers worldwide to advance these areas.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan University the fellowship will provide Lo with five to 10 years of support, including roughly double the standard salary for new faculty members, along with additional research funding.
