Archana Venkataraman named to MIT Technology Review’s 2019 list of 35 Innovators under 35

Archana Venkataraman, member of the MINDS faculty and a John C. Malone Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been named to MIT Technology Review’s 2019 list of 35 Innovators under 35.

The annual list recognizes outstanding innovators from a wide range of fields whose work promises to shape the coming decades. Previous winners include Larry Page and Sergey Brin, cofounders of Google; Mark Zuckerberg, cofounder of Facebook; and Jonathan Ive, chief designer of Apple. The magazine recognized Archana for her work in methods to detect and pinpoint the locations of epileptic seizures in the brain.

At Johns Hopkins, Archana’s research focuses on building new mathematical models to characterize complex processes within the brain. Archana and her team aim toward a greater understanding of debilitating neurological disorders, with the long-term goal of improving patient care.
